Born in Paris in 1965. He lives in Paris. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Le Havre and the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, before moving to New York, where he lived from 1988 to 2004.
In 1992, he exhibited his work in Paris at Galerie Météo (Le Triomphe de la peinture) and the following year in Munich at Daniel Blau Gallery (Köpfe); then in Paris at the Grand Palais (Saga), Zürcher Gallery (Vraiment peintres), Galerie Barbier-Beltz and Galerie Météo (SMGP2A); in the South of France at the museum of Toulon (L’Éloge de la peinture); and in New York, at the French Consulate (An American Collection of Contemporary French Art), Galerie Achim Kubinski (What to Say, What Not to Say) and the White Columns (Libidinal paintings).
In 1996, he was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in New York, USA.
His most recent exhibitions include: Art library, Vitré (2013); 21st. Projects New York; Galerie Scrawitch, Paris; School of Fine Arts, Tours; The Artboretum, Argenton-sur-Creuse (2012) and Château of Saint-Ouen (2011).

In 2011, he founded Critical Practices Inc., which sponsors a program of viewings of artist’s works and roundtables on contemporary cultural issues. He was co-editor of Lusitania Press (1996-2004) as well as the editor of the book series “Critical Voices in Art, Theory and Culture (1996-2006)” published by Routledge. His writings have appeared in numerous art magazines, journals, catalogues, and books in the USA and Europe. Since 1987, Saul Ostrow has curated over 70 exhibitions in the US and abroad.
