La ferveur photographique

Notes janvier 2023-juin 2024 – Suivi de Méditations cartier-bressoniennes

Arnaud Claass continues his reflections on the art of observation, subjecting the act of seeing to the test of words. He comments on his perceptions through the lens of daily life while also engaging with a wide range of historical and contemporary works.

For photographers, true visual and mental openness to the relentless flow of appearances is a form of devotion. As for the viewer of images, it is their responsibility to look with the same intensity, listening deeply to themselves. Whether capturing photographs or contemplating those of others, it is ultimately a celebration of the world in all its contradictions.

In his *Cartier-Bressonian Meditations*, Arnaud Claass revisits the influence that discovering the French photographer had on him in his youth. His admiration, though unwavering, has been subjected over the years to close scrutiny. In these recent notes, he challenges many preconceived ideas about this seminal body of work.
