The “atelier”, here the subject of the series that has been working for three years, the Brazilian artist Luiz Mauro. These works represent the places of production of works of art, generally isolated areas, perceived as singular worlds where artists design and deliver their creations. This is not his own workshop he represents, but those of the major artists of the history of modern and contemporary art, covering more than a century of photographic documentation of artists’ studios, initiated the nineteenth century during Impressionism.
The Luiz Mauro work process begins with research, archiving and selection of photographs workshops published on various communication media of wide circulation, such as books, magazines and internet. These are mostly unsigned photos, art used in the circuit as a promotional tool or artists fetishization, feeding the curiosity of the public for the privacy of these workshops. Are selected photographs documenting these spaces, tidy and experienced daily by artists images that reveal architectural features, such as lofts, windows and floors, which set the terms of furniture and immortalize the place of personal items.
