Contemporary Photography is passionate about fifty years for suburban areas. The work of André Merian is definitely in this movement. Catalogue of places, far from being grounds or pretexts, show tension between these natural spaces and their transformation into irremediable use spaces. Images impose neutral refusing the construction of meaning.
This book presents West, a series of André Mérian delivering a critical and equally sensitive planning in Britain. This work was carried out during an artist residency with the association GwinZegal Guingamp between 2008 and 2010 in the Côtes d’Armor.

Damien Sausset is both historian, curator, journalist, art critic for ArtPress, Connaissance des Arts or The Eye. After an experience of MoMA curator at New York, he completed several commissions for exhibitions, including "Henri Foucault" at Palazzo Fortuni at the Venice Biennale (2005), "Some French photographers" in Beijing (2005) or "Evariste Richer "in Bourges. It is also the author of monographs on contemporary artists (Bernard Venet, Erik Bulatov, François Morellet, Claire Chevrier).
