Rencontre Lionel Jusseret

“Kolostrum” : agriculteurs d’ici et de maintenant

Kolostrum is an immersive journey into the daily lives of dairy farmers, captured during an artistic residency in the Perche region in 2024 by Lionel Jusseret. True to his socio-documentary approach, he shares the farmers’ routines, takes part in their work, and photographs their world with rare intimacy.

Far from conventional representations of agriculture, his perspective reveals the strength of gestures, the bond with animals, the harshness of the profession, and the uncertainties of a trade in transformation. Each image captures a delicate balance between relentless labor and suspended moments, between tradition and modernity.

His intense, high-contrast compositions translate the raw essence of rural life—from the texture of cowhides to worn doors, from milk to blood, from soil to timeworn faces. Inspired by cinéma vérité, he captures moments of tension and tenderness, the transmission of knowledge, and the weight of heritage.

More than just a documentary, **Kolostrum** is a visual narrative that questions our relationship with agriculture, breaking away from preconceived notions. This book offers a tangible and poetic vision of an essential yet often misunderstood world, celebrating those who, day after day, feed the world with passion and dedication.
